ROLE: ART DIRECTION, DESIGN, ILLUSTRATION
We were briefed by kykNET, an Afrikaans channel in South Africa, to create a title sequence for a documentary series based on Hermann Giliomee's book about the Afrikaners. The book covers the history of the Afrikaners with all its irony, drama, and controversy, including a thought-provoking final chapter on the decline of Afrikaans and the Afrikaners as a group.
Our title sequence (ironically, without any actual titles) features iconic images that relate to specific events and timelines mentioned in the documentary. The goal was to create a visual intro to the series that would set the tone and give viewers a sneak-peek of what's to come.
